Seed Mother
CalArts, Valencia
Seed Mother is a installation work building upon my research into cryogenics. Thanks to receiving the Felix Gonzales-Torres travel grant, I was able to research where cryogenics is actually working- seed preservation. I toured several seed safes, a deextinction lab, and many real-life archives in order to see how living and dying archives were being maintained. This exhibition is a form of speculative theater that asks what if we are able to bend our DNA to hold data, memories and new potentials from spit-to-seed-to-mutation-to-transfiguration.
